Sunny Side Farm, Corn Crib, Palmyra
The ‘corn cribs’ at Sunny Side Farm date to 1830 and were used for storing grain until being restored as a cabin for a weekend retreat. These two historic structures were joined by a new bathroom addition in the center, carefully designed to fit new and old. During restoration, the two structures were carefully disassembled and then re-assembled so as to integrate modern heating and insulation, electrical wiring and plumbing into the historic fabric. Original hand hewn beams were carefully salvaged from the original structure to be re-used as interior elements. All dependencies at Sunny Side Farm have since been restored, including the dairy barn, old school house, and smoke house.
